I'm pretty sure it's supported, whether intentional or not... on 1.1.8 it's right in the tab completion, with help and all:

I like the way it works now, but honestly as long as I can get to both the CLI and the OS shell somehow (with a command), I don't really care which is the default.

I'm still interested in this, and still planning my upgrade project. If anyone has suggestions, or advice for how to get started on a PR for this, I'd greatly appreciate it.
