This option is both redundant and problematic on multiple levels.

From the user point of view, it's the leading source of confusion as to where on earth the default route comes from on the system when protocols subtree is empty.

There's also a lot of code that exists just to make sure it's not set at the same time with "protocols static route 0.0.0.0", and even that is not working well. Why keep it any longer?
