But wouldn't that be a n SA issue in strongswan?
Found their bugreports, I think the best and safest way is to turn redirects entirely off and set an option in interfaces to turn it on. That way we can assure that a warning messages is also read and understood. agree?

I doubt that it will be unecrypted

It can be at 100% unencrypted. If sender accept redirects, then traffic can be routed through another router. :)

Hmm, I don't like the leaking part :D (I doubt that it will be unecrypted, but haven't tested it yet) . Per default redirects are enabled on every interface, which is the default.

zsdc added a comment to T1135: "firewall send-redirects enable" works only after switching from disabled state on running system.

By default, more optimal will be leaving send_redirects in enabled state.
I think, that better will be preventing to commit something in vpn ipsec if send_redirects is enabled for any interface, as we can't predict at 100% from which interface will be received traffic, that need to be encrypted with IPSec.
Per-interface option can help in any case, definitely. But we need to leave at least warning to user, where will be clearly said, that with enabled send_redirects some of traffic from interface with this option can be leaked through unencrypted channels.

hagbard added a comment to T1131: open-vm-tools causing 100% CPU load.

@syncer I was thinking to add a cli menu for vmwaretoolsd mitgation like these things. It seems that not many were affected by that but if there is anything in the cli available, it can configure the toolsd to prevent things like that plus the toolsd has tons of options. So, I'm not really sure how I should go forward with this one.

@syncer Just to confirm, the above pull request integrates this and can be merged. I'm not sure if there's a status change I should make to this or just leave it be. Thanks

OK, just getting VyOS back on it as installing Debian wiped the hard disk.

ISO is still building. You are right, a NIC is a NIC, but a NIC consists of a MAC and a PHY which does the PHYsical interface. you can have the same MAC part multiple times but with different PHY ICs. Lets wait for the ISO to compile.

I don't have the old Buster ISO with Kernel 4.18 anymore.

According to the datasheet https://f.ipc2u.de/files/add/doc/445/3I380D-D90-Datasheet.pdf I see no PHY that is used on this board - nevertheless I saw that we do not ship every avialable PHY driver, also drivers present in 1.2.0-rc6 are no longer present like CONFIG_BCM7XXX_PHY. I will provide you with an updated ISO for testing.

Looks like a general issue here. Do you still have the old Buster ISO with Kernel 4.18 that you can install on the target HW?

I managed to do a full install of Buster (weekly) on it and I can confirm
that the problem IS still there. I confirmed that the kernel is 4.19.12-1. I
then installed the kernel from the sid branch

I have also realised that, as lspci shows the NICs on the PCI bus even
though they are not there in VyOS 1.2 after RC6, maybe they will be present
during the install but not after the system reboots. When I tested it with
Buster, I only took the install to the point of being presented with the
four NICs, I didn't actually install it and see if they were still there
after the reboot.

show bgp ipv6 route-map ebgp-v6-import-as6939
